Kuk Sool Won™ Grandmaster, In Hyuk Suh, visited Kuk Sool Won™
schools in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan,
and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, on his
annual seminar tour across England,
Canada, and the United States. The grandmaster was accompanied by
Kuk Sool Won™ Master Alex Suh.
The seminar team conducted a three-hour test for local
students who were testing for advancement to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th
Degree black belts. In the
evening, the seminar team held a three-hour seminar for instructors and
students. The seminar concluded
with the promotion of Rob Strand, Richard Cassing, Jacob Ellis, and
Trask Reinhart to the rank of 1st Degree black belt (Jo Kyo Nim).
Rob Strand, Jo Kyo Nim, works at the Vegas Kewadin Casino in
Sault Ste. Marie, Richard Cassing Jo Kyo Nim is a recent LSSU graduate,
Jacob Ellis Jo Kyo Nim is a tenth grade student in the Sault Ste. Marie
Area High School, and Trask Reinhart, Jo Kyo Nim, is a seventh grade
student in the St. Mary’s Catholic School.
Richard JKN trained with the LSSU Kuk Sool Won™ Club which
meets in the Student Activity Center
wing of the Norris Center and the other three new Jo Kyo Nims
train at Washington
Elementary School
with instructors Karl Stolt, Ben Forejt, Sr., and Ben Forejt II.
All of the new black belts tested many times during the last
year, sometimes before the Grandmaster, sometimes at other Kuk Sool
Won™ schools, and often before their own instructors. The tests involve a considerable
amount of memory and physical endurance. The training leading up to the point
of testing covers a period of several years. Earning the rank of 1st
degree black belt in the martial art style of Kuk Sool Won™ is most definitely an
accomplishment of which they may be justifiably proud.
