Degree;
Alyssa Fishell, a tenth grade student
at Sault
Area High School, promoted
to1st degree black belt on Saturday, June 20th. Her father and 1st degree
black belt, Pat Fishell, had the pleasure of escorting his
daughter for the ceremony.
Kuk Sool Won™ Grandmaster, In Hyuk Suh, visited Kuk Sool Won™ schools in
Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan,
and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario,
on his annual seminar tour across the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States. The grandmaster was
accompanied by Kuk Sool Won™ Master Sung Jin Suh, Master Barry
Harmon and Jang Dahn Hoe a second degree black belt who was the
top student this past year at Young-San
University in Pusan, South Korea.
The seminar team conducted a two-hour
test for local students who are testing for advancement to 1st
degree black belts and higher degrees of black belt. The following morning, the
seminar team held a three-hour seminar for instructors and
students. The seminar
concluded with the promotion of fourteen students to the rank
of 1st Degree black belt (Jo Kyo
Nim).
The new Jo Kyo
Nim’s tested many times during the
last two years, sometimes before the Grandmaster & visiting
masters, and often before their local instructors. The tests involve a
considerable amount of memory and physical endurance. The training leading up to
the point of testing covers a period of several years. Earning the rank of 1st
degree black belt in the martial art style of Kuk Sool Won™ is most definitely
an accomplishment of which they may be justifiably proud.
Pat Jo Kyo
Nim and Alyssa Jo Kyo Nim train at Washington Elementary School with
instructors Karl Stolt, Ben Forejt, Sr., and Ben Forejt II.
