The Meaning of Life
Uhhh Ohhhhhh,
This might be a tough one! I dare say several other more qualified persons
have discussed this. But I thought I would write down some thoughts anyway.
Who knows they might have meaning for
someone? Why is it that this becomes an issue predominately for the over
fifty crowd, or for someone who has had a loved one die or had a brush with
death themselves? Do we need to be reminded about how tenuous our lives
really are? Maybe…. Maybe a gentle reminder is in order periodically to
shake up our routine and help us to make more of the time we have. We don't
have time to think about mortality or the meaning of life while we are so
busy getting somewhere! But where are we going? I think all too often, life
is a day to day struggle that leaves little time for thoughts of larger issues.
Some of us really don't take the time to think about such things, some of
us don't want to or we put off thinking about them until it's to late.
I'm not suggesting that we sit down and
think about death once a day. But perhaps thinking about life every day
might be of value. Life is what happens to us while we are busy living! I
believe the meaning of life is in a child's first step, in a gentle moment
spent with someone you care about, or even in that sunset that is unique in
itself and will never happen again! We can often be so preoccupied with the
struggle to find meaning in our lives that we miss it while struggling so
hard to grasp it.
If you can give, give, it will be returned
a hundred-fold!
If you have loved ones, somehow manage to let them know every day!
If you have friends don't let them go!
Learn to breathe!
Learn to be patient!
Learn to be happy and to find happiness in small things!
Life is this "MOMENT", not
yesterday or tomorrow. Try to have some of these moments have meaning for
you and for others.
Search for meaning in life's journey. Along
the way, not in the destination!
The only real measure of success in life is if somehow along
the way you have managed to be happy!
